ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Denise S. Millben

Pastor Denise Millben is an inspirational woman of God who leads with wisdom and grace.  Throughout over 40 years of marriage, she diligently served alongside her late husband, Bishop S. Michael Millben, with purpose and precision.  An insightful speaker, she draws heavily from her background, education, and practical experiences as a preacher, teacher and counselor.  An exemplary woman, she possesses the rare ability to reach many as she worked to complement her husband.

A gifted speaker and writer, Pastor Denise has authored two books, “Mam-Maws Bags”a children's book inspired by memories of her youth and “Two Silver Trumpets”; addressing the challenges pastors and their wives experience as they endeavor to work as one to effectively and efficiently build the Kingdom.

Pastor Denise has traveled extensively throughout the Continental United States, Germany, Russia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Venezuela and Jamaica speaking and touching the lives of many.  Her commitment to helping others is evident through her humanitarian efforts in Todee Liberia, West Africa and her lifestyle of service to God and His people.

B.R.I.D.G.E (Building Relationships In Different Geographical Environments) began at the conclusion of a trip taken to Liberia in 2011.  Denise was invited to conduct a teacher's workshop in the city of Monrovia.  After conducting a successful workshop with another colleague, Mrs. Deanna Tolbert, they were given a guided tour of the countryside.  During the tour, Pastor Denise was struck by the great needs of this West African nation .  She visited a region called Weala about a two hour drive from Monrovia. There she observed many children waiting on the porch of an obviously abandoned building.  The graphic picture was engraved in her mind. After greeting the children, she discovered that none of them were enrolled in school. Their school building had been destroyed during the massive upheaval of the Liberian Civil War, fifteen years previous.

Even after finishing her stay in Liberia, as an educator, she continued to be haunted by her experience in Weala.  During the flight home, she felt this great need to DO SOMETHING.  She felt compelled to reach out a helping hand to these young people growing up in a nation that had been ravished by war.  How hard could it be to refurbish and restore a school to that area?  She conceived the idea of an organization that would exist for just such purposes. She shared her ideas with her husband, friends and associates. Now was the time to act!!!

Soon BRIDGE was birthed to provide the framework that would connect special needs to available resources.  As all babies, it began to grow, evolve and mature into an organization that had specific features. As a result, we have assembled our team and established a network of skilled professionals whose passion and expertise work synergistically to provide programs and produce projects to help people lead better lives.  BRIDGE's work will encompass only four areas of need: 1) education, 2) food source, 3) water and 4) energy.

In 2013, BRIDGE became a charitable 501c3 non-profit organization with a volunteer staff.  It is our goal to extend our hearts and hands to those in need.

Our vision: BRIDGE will gather, guide, give and initiate projects that will impact, enlighten, inspire and encourage groups of impoverished people for a better life.

Our motto is: "The duty of man is to stretch out a hand to help those in need, therefore, we are dedicated to the service of people that no good cause shall lack a champion." (Anonymous)
